The Village of Park Forest partnered with Solstice to enroll its residents in local community solar projects. Many of the Village’s residents income-qualified for an extra-high discount. Since the launch of the campaign, over 150 Park Forest residents have signed up for community solar, making for a massive cumulative impact on residents’ total electric costs and a large contribution from Solstice to Park Forest’s Sustainability initiatives, such as the expansion of electric vehicle charging stations and creation of a community composting program.
By joining forces with Solstice, houses of worship can unlock newfound savings for their members while simultaneously raising vital funds for their core programs. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills raised thousands of dollars to fund improvements to its core programs by enrolling over 50 congregants in community solar.
The New York City Housing Authority partnered with Solstice to enroll its residents onto community solar projects located on its rooftops, bringing valuable savings to dozens of income-qualified participants in the city who could never otherwise access clean energy. Solstice educated residents through materials distributed in each building as well as live events where residents could learn more and enroll.
The Arc Rockland, a nonprofit that supports over 1,000 community members with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, found community solar to be a no-cost solution to reduced energy bills. The organization enrolled 28 of its own properties and ran a referral campaign for friends, family, and employees to join Arc in the program which generated additional funds for the nonprofit through our partnership program.
